Victorian Family Holidays Craft Day- The Shelton McMurphey Johnson House

Dec 30, 2014 | Time Travel | 2 comments

I’m always delighted when I find fun, kid-friendly events in my community. I stumbled upon a free event: Victorian Family Holidays Craft Day, hosted by The Shelton McMurphey Johnson House last Saturday. It was very insightful and FUN for my son Bryson and me – I hope they do more events like this! The turnout was around 20 kids when we arrived, a comfortably-sized gathering so Bryson wasn’t overwhelmed.

Bryson’s first mission was the art of letter writing to Santa. He carefully picked out his stationary, wrote his wishes down and sealed it in an envelope. Then he mailed his letter off to the North Pole to be read by Old Kris Kringle himself.

Our visit to this event was sort of spontaneous and we were THRILLED to run into friends we knew! Together we strung popcorn and cranberries. It warms the heart to share holiday experiences – like warm cocoa for the soul!

If you asked Bryson his favorite part, he would tell you he looooved the scavenger hunt the best since he digs exploring. And boy, did he get to! That activity had us searching room by room, encouraging us to look very closely at how festively each room theme was decorated.
