First Visit Into the Realm of the Faeries (aka Fairies)

Oct 7, 2011 | Story Worlds | 1 comment

The warmth of the Autumn sun summons me to step into the woods to a new celebration of the season. My little niece and I had never walked amongst the hidden folk, for pixies, elves and their woodland friends typically stay hidden in the pages of storybooks. On this day of harvest they were all out to frolic in their natural habitat. It seemed only right to grow wings of our own and play along with them.

Dear reader, I must admit that I was so mesmerized by the magic and wonder permeating this new land  that I didn’t collect as many photo memories as I would like to share. I did, however, manage to get photos to document how festive we looked on this day… as for the rest, I will have to paint a picture with my words.

We couldn’t get enough of all the revelry – dancing, food tasting, browsing and Faerie watching. The hustle and bustle of it all was invigorating! All the while yarn-spinners told stories,  fair and winged folk had tea parties… and all the while live music floated around our ears. So much to take in that I knew we would have to revisit this annual event again and again. Faerieworlds used to be in our town, but now this portal opens up in the Portland, Oregon area – typically in the month of August – for a weekend. To locate this mythical conjunction of worlds, the prophetic whispers of the Fair Folk can be heard at faerieworlds.com

I love faerieworlds too and Im so glad you wrote about it! I have many great memories over the years of taking my son and my friends there. I used to run the kids area for years and it was a blast. The costumes, the music, the people, made it a very special and fun place!
